Model Design
It all begins with a list of ideas: inspired by informed comments from our customers, who are after all the primary users of Nicol’s boats, we make use of all suggestions that might help us to improve the onboard comfort of our boats and meet our customers’ demands. Once these “specifications” have been drawn up, it is then time to design “the” boat which will meet all the requirements expected by our customers: living space, sleeping quarters, aesthetic design, high standards of interior equipment…
The key stages of construction
Once the plans are ready, it is time to construct the “cast”: it is from this piece, made of wood, that the moulds used to create all units will be made. Each mould must have a perfect surface, like a mirror, so that the lamination stage (spraying of polyester fibres) is free from all flaws. Once the two main parts (the hull and deck) have been made, next is the removal-from-mould stage… things are already taking shape! Then all the different teams get down to work: joiners for construction of the partition walls and the interior furniture; deck fitters and welders for the railings, ladders and handrails; electricians, mechanics and plumbers for the internal equipment and wiring, etc., until the boat is finally ready to leave the yard and go to its charter base!
Fittings designed to offer you optimal comfort and safety:
Onboard Nicol’s boats, everything is provided to bring you high levels of comfort. Most of our models are equipped with a very large, bright living area, with a 360° panoramic view; luxury kitchen arrangement with 200-litre fridge and freezer compartment, stove and mini-oven, perhaps even a microwave (VIP model)!
All models have a sliding bay window leading to the aft terrace where you can dine in the sun; the solarium roof is easily accessible, with in most cases a double cockpit allowing the skipper to enjoy the sunshine!
In terms of safety, Nicol’s has fitted all its boats with double safety railings as well as a handrail, enabling movement around the edges of the boat in maximum comfort and safety, for adults and children alike. All our models produced in the boatyard since 1998 are also equipped with a swimming ladder: Very handy for getting back onboard the boat after a quick dip… whether intentional or otherwise!
